It depends on how the boundary is likely to be tested. Palisade resists cutting and vehicle impact well but offers grip points for climbing. Welded panel systems, particularly close-mesh types, are harder to climb and keep sightlines open for cameras and staff. On most sites the best answer is a mix, with the heavier system on the exposed or previously targeted sides.

Foundation depth is driven by fence height, post size, exposure to wind and the ground itself. Taller runs, gate posts and corners need more than a standard line post, and soft or made-up ground needs larger concrete. We confirm this on survey rather than applying one figure across a whole site, because shallow foundations are the most common reason a steel fence starts leaning.

Hot-dip galvanising is the protection; powder-coating is applied over it for appearance. Industrial yards and rear boundaries are usually left galvanised. Where the fence faces a road, reception, school or campus, powder-coating in black or green looks considerably better and adds a second barrier against corrosion at no practical cost in durability.
